“We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China.”
“A lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April.”
According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19 “can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather.”
“It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”
According Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the pandemic will not end until the country has “a scientifically sound, safe, and effective vaccine.”
“Anybody that needs a test, gets a test. We—they’re there. They have the tests. And the tests are beautiful.”
The first COVID-19 test kits released by the Centers for Disease Control, which refused to use the tests authorized by the World Health Organization, were defective. Rollout of the corrected tests in early March was slow, leading to counterproductive restrictions on who could be tested. Between March 1 and April 1, the number of daily tests rose from 88 to a little over 100,000—far short of the number required to control the outbreak.

“Hydroxychloroquine… [has shown] very, very encouraging early results. And we’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately.”
According to the World Health Organization, "there is currently no proof" that hydroxychloroquine effectively treats or prevents COVID-19. In June, following reports of "serious heart rhythm problems,” the FDA revoked its emergency authorization for use of the drug to treat COVID-19. Nevertheless, Trump has continued to promote hydroxychloroquine and has called studies challenging the drug’s safety or efficacy “Trump enemy statements.”

“So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light … supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that too…. And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that.”

“The United States and Germany are the two best in deaths per 100,000 people. Frankly, to me, that’s perhaps the most important number there is.”
The U.S. death rate, per capita, is more than double Germany’s. The U.S. mortality rate of roughly 25 in 100,000 citizens is, in fact, among the 10 worst among major countries.
“It’s very important: Vaccine or no vaccine, we’re back…”
In mid-April, the Trump administration released phased guidelines for “Opening Up America Again.” Implementation and enforcement were left to the states. Dr. Anthony Fauci worried that some states would reopen prematurely. “If we skip over the checkpoints in the guidelines to ‘Open America Again,’” he said, “then we risk the danger of multiple outbreaks throughout the country. This will not only result in needless suffering and death but would actually set us back on our quest to return to normal.” Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, former Director of the CDC, seconded these concerns. “We’re not reopening based on science. We’re reopening based on politics, ideology and public pressure. And I think it’s going to end badly.”
